We may have a problem here...
We are only allowed 44 lbs per person for our luggage on our flights in China. I neatly packed Alanna's suitcase, weighed it and it is exactly 44 lbs! Sounds great, right? But that means between Rob and I together, OUR stuff can only be 44 lbs. Hmmm? We were planning on bringing three suitcases and one carry-on, but now I'm rethinking that. The suitcase alone weighs about 12 lbs. Looks like we may be cramming our stuff into two and bringing an extra carry-on. You would think a 3 yr old's clothes can't possibly weigh that much, but there's the toys, candy for the kids, medicine (just in case), pull-ups and wipes. It all adds up fast!
Fortunately, once we pick up Alanna, she will be considered a passenger and be allowed her own 44 lb luggage weight limit. I guess we'll be shopping for an extra suitcase to bring home our souveniers!

That's exactly what we did on our first trip to China....bought a suitcase over there to pack excess and souvenirs! The suitcase was CHEAP (thank goodness)! Hope the packing all works out for you!!

We did the same thing with buying a suitcase - but we were told that the kids' tickets don't carry the full weight alotment. I think they only give the kids' tickets 1/2 of the weight allowance. We didn't have any problems with the weight because they weighed our bags as a group and the average was fine. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!
